Winter 2016 – Jenkins Serving Others

Jeff YohAlthough Jeff Yoh owns and is actively involved in Jenkins Restorations, he has many other interests outside of the company. He and his wife, Suzanne, are co-executive directors of a nonprofit corporation called Servants with a Heart. The non-profit arranges ‘food packing events’ where organizations, churches and businesses, including Jenkins Restorations, come together to pack dehydrated meals to deliver to starving and malnourished children and their families. Following these events, approximately 10 percent is delivered to the community where the packing event was held, while the remainder is shipped overseas. Jeff and Suzanne founded the nonprofit in early 2011 with the help of their three teenaged children, while seeking a way to serve together as a family.

It is not uncommon for Jeff and Suzanne to travel to these destinations and be a part of the food delivery. Most recently, a group of 12 adults/children from Servants with a Heart, as well as 4 adults and 25 high-school students from Charlotte Christian School, went on an international mission to deliver meals to 8 different locations around Managua, Nicaragua.

This was the third year that students from Charlotte Christian School participated in the international mission to Nicaragua. Many times the students have reported wanting to go on this mission to change lives in Nicaragua. Yet, just as often, they have found that during their time with the people in Nicaragua, it was in fact their own lives which had been so drastically changed. Quiet and introverted students came out of their shells, worshiping and serving others boldly, friendships blossomed where unlikely groupings had been prior, and each of the students embraced the idea of servant leadership and was vulnerable to deepening their faith.
